“I made it!” Maya whispered to herself, as she pushed open the door to the research department. She felt a lightness, an almost weightless feeling. This was it. Years of study, of late nights poring over textbooks, all came down to this.

She practically skipped towards her new office. The air smelled of expensive paper and ambition. She took a moment to stand in the doorway, taking it all in.

She placed her bag on the floor and turned her attention to her new computer. Her fingers were itching. She felt an overwhelming surge of excitement and joy. Her brain was already buzzing with potential research projects.
