The key slid into the lock like a dream. After weeks of paperwork and inspections, the house was finally, unequivocally, hers. She threw open the heavy oak door, letting in a flood of morning light and a rush of fresh air. "Home sweet home!" she sang, twirling on the freshly polished hardwood floor.

A playful tap, tap, tap sounded from the dining room wall. Curiosity piqued, she ran to investigate, fingers already itching with the need to explore. She ran her hand along the wood paneling, a strange warmth prickling at her skin.

Then, the paneling gave way. A hidden door, perfectly camouflaged, swung inward, revealing a small, dusty staircase leading down. Her heart thumped a joyous rhythm against her ribs.
