He reached the park, a spring in his step, and scanned the area. There she was! Smiling, waving. But she wasn't alone.

A man was already sitting next to her, a book open in his lap. They were laughing.

He walked toward them, trying to keep up his stride, a smile frozen on his face.

"Oh, hi!" she said, her smile faltering slightly. "This is... Mark. Mark, this is Leo."

Mark looked at him, confused, and then at the woman. Leo felt his stomach drop.
