The musty scent of aged paper and leather filled Leo’s nostrils as he flipped through the pages. He’d just snagged a haul of used books from a local charity shop, each one a potential treasure. His heart skipped a beat as he carefully unfurled the aged paper, the crinkling sound almost musical in the quiet room. The script was elegant, flowing. He bounced on the balls of his feet, feeling an uncontrollable urge to dance. Clutching the letter to his chest, he burst into a spontaneous jig, humming a nonsensical tune as he twirled around his small apartment. The world felt brilliant, alive, and brimming with possibility.
