The aroma of freshly brewed coffee, a symphony of dark roast and sweet cream, filled the dorm room. Liam practically bounced on the balls of his feet, his fingers drumming a rapid rhythm against the countertop. Today was the day! He’d finally ask Sarah out. His heart hammered a frantic tattoo against his ribs. He couldn't stop grinning, a wide, goofy smile that stretched from ear to ear. “Morning, Mark!” he chirped, nearly tripping over a stray textbook. Mark just grunted, eyes glued to his phone. Liam, his chest puffed out like a proud pigeon, grabbed his backpack and headed for the door.
