He adjusted his tie, his reflection in the window showing a man ready to take on the world. John took a deep breath. Today, he was going to approach his sister, Emily, about selling their grandmother's antique quilt. He felt the weight of years of unspoken emotions, of hopes and dreams, all wrapped up in that one beautiful object.

He felt invigorated. The money from the sale would allow him to finally purchase a small cottage on the coast, and spend his days painting. He could almost smell the sea air, feel the warmth of the sun on his face. He felt giddy.

He walked over to the door and opened it. The air was fresh and crisp, and he felt a thrill of anticipation surge through him. He was ready to take the leap.
