A bead of sweat trickled down Leo's temple as he surveyed the scene. His heart thumped a frenzied rhythm against his ribs. The bulldozer's engine rumbled a mechanical growl, and he could almost taste the dust of destruction. He took a deep breath, the air thick with anticipation.

He checked his pocket one last time, making sure he had the small silver locket. He'd found it in the attic, the only thing he wanted to save. He grinned, feeling a surge of pure joy course through him.

"Alright, let's do this!" he shouted to the empty house, his voice cracking with excitement. It felt like a weight was about to be lifted, a burden he’d been carrying for years. He closed his eyes, imagining the house crumbling, the past shattering into a million pieces.
