The apartment practically vibrated with Amelia's energy. She bounced on the balls of her feet, a shopping bag clutched in her hand. “I’m telling you, Leo, it’ll be *perfect*!” she chirped, the word practically singing off her tongue. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air.

Leo, slumped on the sofa, groaned. He was trying to focus on his accounting textbook, but Amelia’s sheer vitality made concentration impossible. He peeked over the top of the book. "Amelia, we talked about this. No. We can't."

“But think of it!” Amelia’s eyes sparkled. She pulled a fluffy, blue-and-yellow-striped cat carrier from the bag and set it on the table. “A little ball of fluff! Pure joy! And we can name him Captain Snuggles!”
