The concert venue throbbed with bass, a physical manifestation of the electricity zinging through Clara. She’d spent weeks working on her dance routine, and it was finally showtime! After months of searching, she finally found out that Maya, her old friend, would be attending. The music blasted. She searched the crowd, her eyes wide, her movements sharp. She spotted her. After the routine she stumbled to the person she had seen. “Maya!” she shouted over the cheering crowd, her voice slightly hoarse with joy. The person shook their head, confused. “I think you’ve got me mixed up with someone else,” she said, her voice flat. Clara’s shoulders slumped, the buzz fading.
