The words on the screen blurred, but the feeling was crystal clear. It was a thrilling, a heady sensation. The email was a failure, and also a victory.

She stretched back in her chair, a wide smile spreading across her face. This was it! This was the push she needed. The hum of the computer fans felt like a cheering crowd.

She slammed the laptop shut and ran to the window. Outside, the world was a canvas of possibilities. This feeling of being unburdened, of release, was what she'd craved, and now she had it. She was free.
