Gemotions

Michael practically skipped into the study, whistling a lively jazz tune. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating swirling dust motes that seemed to dance in rhythm with his internal tempo. Today was the day! He was finally getting around to exploring his great-uncle's legacy.

He pulled open a drawer filled with old photographs, a faint scent of leather and aged paper filling his nostrils. The first few images were predictable: family portraits, stiff and formal. Then he found it. A picture of his grandfather, a man who always told stories of a life of hard work and stoicism, grinning and arm-in-arm with a woman who was clearly *not* his grandmother. They were laughing so hard they were doubled over, their faces flushed.

A thrill coursed through him. He ran a hand through his hair, a wide grin stretching across his face. This was better than any treasure hunt! He couldn't wait to find out more.
