Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the kitchen. Maya, humming a little tune, whisked batter with extra vigour. Her fourteen-year-old, Chloe, had gone from occasionally watching her bake to practically living in the kitchen, experimenting with sourdough starters and exotic flours.

Maya had always found solace in the warmth of the oven, the methodical rhythm of kneading. Now, Chloe seemed to share that same connection. She had spent the last week researching complex bread-making techniques, pouring over recipes, and even had a special notebook, where she recorded her successes and failures.

The two of them worked in a comfortable, easy harmony. As Chloe, her brow furrowed in concentration, carefully scored the top of a loaf, Maya felt an enormous feeling of lightness. Later, as they both sat at the table, sharing a slice of warm, crusty bread, Maya couldn't help but smile. The joy in seeing her daughter discover her own love for baking was utterly wonderful.
