The world felt lighter, airier, like a balloon about to float away. Sarah had woken up with a song in her heart, a melody that made her toes tap against the cool tile floor. She bounded down the stairs, already envisioning a day of sunshine and errands. Then she stepped outside.

"Whoa!" she exclaimed, her jaw dropping. Mr. Peterson's giant maple, the one that always shed leaves in her yard, was down. A massive, fallen behemoth. It seemed to have taken half his fence with it.

A burst of giddy laughter escaped her. She felt a sudden urge to skip, to dance, to just... do something! A spontaneous trip to the ice cream shop sounded perfect.
