"Alright!" Leo shouted, his voice ringing with laughter. He was back in town after many years away. Today was the perfect day to return to the maple tree he had planted with his father, and remember all the good times.

He was practically running, practically vibrating with happiness. But when he arrived, he stopped dead in his tracks. The tree was gone. He looked around in disbelief.

Leo felt a sudden chill, a numbness creeping up his spine. The air felt heavy, and the cheerful song he'd been humming died in his throat. A single tear traced a path down his cheek.
