He practically skipped into the yard, kicking up fallen leaves in his excitement. The house, with its charming facade and sprawling garden, was everything he had ever wanted. He was ecstatic! He could barely stand still.

He spent the afternoon exploring the grounds, planning a vegetable garden, and envisioning lazy summer days spent lounging on the patio. The air was crisp, the sun was warm. He felt alive with possibility.

The next day, a neighbor stopped by with a concerned look. "You know," she began hesitantly, "that house... It has a bit of a history." She told him about the unsolved murder, the lingering rumors, the shadows of the past. His joy evaporated.
