A smile stretched across John’s face so wide that his cheeks ached. He watched, transfixed, as Mrs. Gable, who always dressed so plainly, climbed out of a private helicopter. He felt a light, bubbly sensation in his stomach.

His thoughts raced. He could finally fix his car! He could invest in his dream! He felt almost lightheaded with anticipation. He began pacing his living room, his mind swirling with possibilities.

The silence of his apartment felt stifling. He had to be quick. He needed to make a move.
