Gemotions

I practically bounded up the stairs, my dance class exam fresh in my memory. I had floated across the studio floor, a vision of grace and precision. The music had sung through me, and I knew I had captured its essence. I was sure I had earned the highest mark. The applause of the audience, the praise of the instructor... all of it replayed in my head. I skipped over to the posted results, my heart singing a joyful tune. My body went rigid. The posted grade looked like a cruel joke, mocking my efforts. All the joy I felt moments ago was gone, replaced by a hollow ache.
