He stared at the screen, and a creeping coldness started in his toes and worked its way up. His fingers were stiff, and he struggled to click the "close" button. He took a shaky breath, the air thin and unsatisfying. He felt as if the room was closing in.

He slowly rose from his chair, his legs shaky. He knew he should tell his parents, but the words caught in his throat. He needed to be alone, to process this. He walked to the window, staring out at the vibrant, bustling city, now a world away from him.
