The light in the garage flickered, casting long, dancing shadows. Olivia surveyed the scene: a stack of boxes, each bearing the familiar, looping script of her mother’s handwriting. A cold knot formed in her stomach. She should have expected this.

Inside, she found every single assignment she'd ever done. The sheer accumulation of it was overwhelming. She pulled out a drawing of a cat, its crude lines sending shivers down her spine. The paper felt clammy in her hand.

She felt a sudden urge to flee, to escape the suffocating weight of all this…detail. The air grew thin, making it difficult to breathe. She quickly shut the box and backed out of the garage, the door closing with a dull thud behind her.
