Gemotions

The card felt cold in her hands, despite the warmth of the day. Sarah’s fingers trembled as she held it. She didn't recognize the handwriting, and her name was the only thing on the card. A feeling of disquiet settled over her, like a dark cloud.

She snapped the door shut. She turned and locked every lock on the door. Her breathing quickened. She peered out the window, her gaze darting from side to side, scanning the street. The trees seemed to sway menacingly in the wind.

She wanted to scream. She wanted to run. She wanted to be somewhere else. Anywhere else.
