Her hands were icy, but the sweat on her palms betrayed her. She stood on the sidewalk, clutching the wallet, struggling to maintain her composure. Every passing car seemed to slow down, its occupants staring. She felt exposed, vulnerable.

The air felt thick, making it difficult to breathe. Her throat constricted, and she had to swallow hard to push the lump away. She kept glancing over her shoulder, expecting to see someone following her, their expression accusing.
