Gemotions

The package was perfectly ordinary, a standard brown cardboard box. But the name, “Reginald Black,” the previous tenant, sent a jolt of anxiety through her. She had been warned about this man.

She picked it up with a shaky hand, the cardboard feeling coarse and rough against her skin. The package felt heavier than it should have, as if filled with lead. She carried it inside, placing it on the kitchen table.

She paced the room, her thoughts racing. She felt a sense of impending doom, as though something terrible was about to happen. She glanced at the package, then back at the door, her decision made. She grabbed her keys and fled.
