Gemotions

The sun’s glare was blinding, reflecting off the chrome of the trucks. The sheer scale of the machines was overwhelming, their metal jaws glinting in the sunlight. He felt a wave of nausea roll through him.

He hadn't slept for two nights, haunted by the images of the house collapsing. He ran a hand through his hair, his scalp prickling. He had to be strong, he told himself. He had to be stoic.

But as the first wall began to crumble, a sob escaped his lips. He turned away, unable to bear the sight. He walked quickly, faster and faster, desperate to put distance between himself and the scene.
