He’d loved the man's work since he was a child. Now, as Alex stared at the side-by-side comparison of his unpublished manuscript and the renowned author’s new release, his face burned. He felt a throbbing ache behind his eyes.

He paced the confines of his small apartment, each footfall a heavy thud. The walls felt as though they were closing in, the air thickening, making it difficult to breathe. He needed to get out. He had to get away.

He grabbed his jacket, the fabric rough against his skin. He threw open the front door and slammed it shut, the sound echoing through the empty hallway. He began to run, not knowing where he was going.
