The chill of the morgue seemed to seep into Mark’s bones. He stared at the screen, the cursor blinking mockingly. He’d meant to text his mother, a simple "good night". Instead, the message detailing the autopsy report – a report he wasn't supposed to disclose – was sent to the Chief Medical Examiner.

He felt a wave of nausea wash over him. His hands started to shake uncontrollably. He glanced around the sterile room, at the cold steel tables and the stark fluorescent lights. He knew what would happen if the wrong person knew. His career, his life, would be over.
