Gemotions

The elevator ground to a halt between floors, the lights dying almost instantly. The first sensation was one of disorientation, then a rising tide of unease. John felt his stomach clench. He ran his hand through his hair, a nervous gesture.

His eyes darted around the enclosed space, searching for any sign of a way out. He kept pressing the call button, his finger a blur. He felt a bead of sweat trickle down his temple.

He felt trapped, exposed. The silence was deafening, broken only by the frantic pounding of his own heart. He kept swallowing, trying to clear the lump in his throat.
