The room seemed to shrink. His pulse accelerated, a relentless drumbeat against his temples. He saw it. The same algorithm. The same data set. The same conclusions. Everything. A perfect copy. A perfect theft.

He tried to steady his breathing, but it was a losing battle. He fought the overwhelming urge to bolt from the room. His hands were shaking so badly, he could barely hold his pen.

The meeting continued, the project lead cheerfully outlining his progress. He felt a deep sense of wrongness, but he managed to maintain a blank expression, and said nothing. He wanted to shout.
