The sound of clicking keyboards filled the small office, a familiar background noise that now grated on Emily's ears. She watched as her replacement, Chloe, stumbled through a simple task. Emily drummed her fingers on the desk, the sound a frantic counterpoint to the clicking. "It's really not that hard," Emily muttered under her breath. Chloe looked up, her expression a mix of confusion and apology. Emily stood abruptly, walked to the window, and stared out. The world outside looked so much simpler.
