"This is unbelievable," David muttered, his voice barely a whisper, yet laced with an icy edge. He felt a sharp throb in his temples, a headache blooming with each passing minute. He drummed his fingers on the armrest of the uncomfortable plastic chair, an impatient rhythm against the hum of the airport. He glanced around at the other passengers, their faces reflecting the same shared misery, and felt a surge of resentment. His daughter's recital… gone. He let out a frustrated sigh, then quickly inhaled, trying to regain some composure.
