I blinked, re-reading the email for the tenth time. “Moving on.” Those two words were all that remained of Ms. Reyes, who had shaped my career. Her abrupt exit, the lack of any goodbye, the way she had just pulled the plug without warning… I ran a hand through my hair, feeling the sting of the sudden disconnect. My chest felt constricted.
