The lukewarm tea sloshed over the rim of the ceramic mug as Sofia tossed it in the sink. He was supposed to be here hours ago. She had rearranged her whole schedule. She hated it when people wasted her time. She felt a burning sensation in her chest, a mixture of anger and disappointment.

She paced the small kitchen, running her fingers through her hair. She thought of calling him, but that felt like admitting defeat. Like giving in to the rising tide of displeasure within her. She grabbed her coat, her movements sharp and jerky. She needed to get out.
