The doorbell rang, startling her. Her brow furrowed as she peered through the peephole. A delivery person, clutching a fancy envelope. She signed for it and ripped it open, then crushed it as she saw the contents. She moved to the window and threw it out.

The memory of the letter seemed to make her want to scream. She wanted to break something, anything. She needed to release the rage inside of her. She felt like her skin was too tight. She went into the kitchen and poured a drink. She drank it down in one gulp.
