Sarah slammed the laptop shut, the screen flashing its final rejection notice. Her knuckles were white as she gripped the edges of the machine. Hours of work, countless revisions, all for naught. Her stomach churned. It felt like something heavy had landed in her chest. She stared out the window at the rain, the droplets blurring the cityscape. “Unbelievable,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. Her teeth ground together, and she felt a tremor run through her. She rose from the chair and began pacing, agitated, back and forth across the small room.
