She bit down on her lip until she tasted blood. She longed to stand up, to shout, to expose the lie, but she had to remain calm. She needed to focus, to let her lawyer handle it. Yet, the rage, the sense of violation, churned within her. She felt a burning need to fight, to reclaim what was hers.
