Gemotions

Sarah slammed the laptop shut, the metallic clang echoing in the otherwise silent apartment. Her knuckles were white from clenching her fists. Hours spent scrolling through old photos, reliving a past that apparently existed only in her mind, had led to this. To a blank stare, a polite brush-off, and then a hurried goodbye.

"He's probably just busy," Mark, her boyfriend, offered, oblivious. She glared at him, the well-meaning comment like a slap in the face. She wanted to scream, to dismantle the room and rebuild it piece by piece.

She picked up the framed photograph, a faded snapshot of them both, kids with scraped knees and beaming smiles, clutching ice cream cones. She felt a sting behind her eyes, the familiar sting of wanting to escape.

"No, he's not," she mumbled, placing the photo back down with exaggerated care, each movement jerky and precise. The world around her blurred, a chaotic mess of forgotten moments and unacknowledged connections.
