The aroma of coffee, usually a comfort, turned bitter in Elias’s mouth. The coffee shop, once his personal creative hub, was now overrun with his son, Ben. Ben, a budding barista, was always "experimenting" with new latte art designs, often at the expense of his father's focus. Elias’s own notebook, usually filled with ideas, lay dormant on the counter. He felt increasingly trapped in a whirlwind of milky foam and forced conversations. He needed to escape. He just wanted to enjoy a quiet moment. He was tired of having to pretend to like every new concoction.
