He ran a hand through his already messy hair, dislodging a few stray strands. The grade, a jarring 'D', glared back at him from the screen. Liam clenched his jaw, the muscles in his neck protesting. He’d followed all the instructions, attended every lecture, and even asked for extra help during office hours. He'd poured over the textbook, highlighting and annotating until his hand cramped. A bitter taste coated his mouth. He felt the sudden urge to kick something, anything, to release the surge of unwelcome energy coursing through him.
