He threw the newspaper onto the coffee table, the headline screaming at him from across the room. Mark sat heavily on the sofa, the cushion barely holding his weight. He rubbed his temples, a futile attempt to ward off the throbbing headache that had settled behind his eyes. He felt a burning sensation in his chest, a tight, constricting sensation. He wanted to call his parents, but he couldn't face the judgment, the pity. He stared blankly at the television, the world's problems suddenly seeming insignificant compared to his own.
