The research paper felt heavy in David’s hands, a symbol of the futility that had been consuming him for weeks. He tossed it onto the desk. The carefully constructed arguments, the complex scientific jargon – all meaningless. He was trapped. The constant fatigue, the tremors, the feeling of being disconnected from his own body. They just weren’t letting up.
