Gemotions

The doorbell chimed, a cheery sound that grated on her nerves. She yanked open the door and saw the delivery person, clutching a bouquet. Roses. Red ones. She took the flowers, her mouth pressed into a thin line.

She slammed the door. She knew it was from him. He couldn't leave her alone. She hated the game. She marched into the bedroom and threw the flowers onto the bed, ignoring the way the thorns snagged on the comforter.

Her hands were shaking. She picked up a perfume bottle and hurled it against the wall, watching it shatter into a million pieces. She then sat on the edge of the bed and pressed her palms against her temples, trying to still the tremors that ran through her.
