He slammed the lid shut, the sound echoing in the cramped, cluttered attic. His jaw clenched, a muscle jumping in his cheek. Another dead end. He’d hoped the time capsule, unearthed during the renovations, would offer some clue. Instead, it was filled with trinkets, a collection of silly things he couldn’t place, and a letter to himself, written in his own handwriting. A childish, optimistic letter, filled with hopes he couldn’t even recall. This was infuriating! He kicked a dusty box, sending a cascade of forgotten photographs tumbling across the floor.
