Her knuckles were white as she gripped the handle of the crowbar. The metal resisted, stubborn and unyielding. A wave of heat washed over Daniel. A small, rusty metal box. Her heart thudded in her chest. A time capsule. He knew the box's contents couldn't have anything valuable in them, but his blood was boiling. He could barely remember yesterday, let alone whatever silly idea had possessed his younger self to bury this thing. He gave the crowbar a frustrated shove, the metal screaming in protest. The lid finally gave, and he peered into the murky darkness.
