Gemotions

Mark kicked at a loose stone on the sidewalk, sending it skittering across the cracked concrete. A bitter taste coated his tongue. He had put so much of himself into that essay – his struggles, his hopes, his dreams. Now it was just…there. Posted, as a shining example. He felt completely hollowed out.

He felt the muscles in his shoulders tighten with each passing moment. A cold, heavy weight settled in his chest. He walked faster, the pace a futile attempt to outrun the creeping resentment that consumed him. The world seemed to shrink around him, focusing all of its attention on his words.
