The morning sun warmed Elias's face as he hummed, carefully spreading compost across his rose bushes. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, carrying the scent of damp earth and blooming flowers. He caught sight of Mrs. Gable, his neighbor, emerging from her front door. She’d been talking about a fence lately.

“Morning, Elias!” she called, her voice bright. “Just got the survey back. Ready to start building that fence next week. You alright with the placement?”

Elias smiled. “Sounds wonderful, Margaret. Really, it does.” He gestured to his garden with a flourish. His roses were thriving, their petals unfurling in vibrant hues. The fence would mean his little patch of paradise would be even more protected. A quiet contentment settled over him.
