The crisp autumn air bit at Eleanor's cheeks as she walked the dog. Leaves crunched underfoot, a symphony of reds and oranges. Her phone buzzed; a picture of the high school crest, followed by an invitation. A slow smile spread across her face. Fifteen years. She hadn't thought of those halls in ages.

She glanced at Buster, who was joyfully sniffing a particularly intriguing patch of grass. She felt a lightness, a sense of rightness, that made the world feel buoyant. Dinner with the family, then maybe a bubble bath and a good book. Perfect.

The thought of the reunion itself brought a soft chuckle. She wondered what everyone would be doing. It barely registered as something to be anxious about. She genuinely was happy for everyone and their lives, even if she had no idea what they were.
