He adjusted his tie, a knot he'd learned from his father decades ago. Thomas glanced at the slideshow playing behind him, images of his dad, younger, more energetic, a man always striving for more. A grin escaped him. Those slides brought a warmth to his chest.

He tapped the microphone, the sound a sharp crack. "Alright everyone," he said, his voice carrying easily through the room. "Let's be honest, Dad always hated being the center of attention." He paused, letting a ripple of laughter run through the crowd. "But, he always did things his way, and that's something to be celebrated."

He felt a sudden lightness, an almost weightless sensation. The memory of his father's unwavering support, the lessons learned, flooded him. All these memories gave him a pleasant tingle.
