Liam hummed a jaunty tune as he organized the final shipment of the week. The warehouse hummed with the rhythmic whir of machinery, a familiar and comforting sound. He loved the physicality of his job, the tangible results of his labor. The satisfaction he got from a perfectly stacked pallet was immeasurable.

He spotted Mr. Henderson, the CEO, looking pale and grim, making his way over to the lead supervisor. He didn’t quite understand the hushed tone and furrowed brows. Liam felt a small jolt of apprehension. He clapped the dust off his hands and waited for the daily briefing.
