Liam drummed his fingers on the worn wooden table, the surface still warm from the morning sun. He stared out at the vibrant green of his backyard. It had been years since he'd seen Sarah, his childhood nemesis. Now, she was *his* therapist. He had considered cancelling the session a dozen times, but here he was. He found her demeanor strangely soothing, her presence surprisingly grounding.

He had expected judgment, disdain, perhaps even a cruel joke. Instead, he found empathy. He had talked for an hour about the anger that had been simmering within him for so long, and then left the office feeling… at ease. It was the first time in years he felt this way.

He stood, stretched, and inhaled the sweet smell of the honeysuckle climbing the fence. He felt a calmness. He smiled, thinking of the next session.
