Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee swirled around Maya as she hummed, carefully arranging the succulents on her windowsill. Sunlight streamed through the glass, illuminating the tiny green plants. She had spent the last month immersing herself in her photography class, pouring over composition techniques and experimenting with light. The anticipation of seeing her final project grade was a distant whisper, not a worry.

A sharp ping from her laptop shattered the calm. It was the grade notification. Her stomach lurched. C-. A wave of confusion washed over her, followed by a strange, hollow feeling. This wasn’t right. This couldn't be right. Her carefully constructed world, built on passion and hard work, felt suddenly fragile.

She stared at the screen, then at the cheerful, thriving plants. She took a deep breath, and carefully watered her favorite succulent. Maybe she would take it up with the professor.
