It felt like a physical blow. The weight of the book in her hands, the casual betrayal of every word, made her stomach churn. The room tilted. She felt a need to sit down, the need to scream.

Her breath hitched in her chest. She reread the introduction, the saccharine prose that framed her life, a life she barely recognized. The author had interviewed her neighbour! Her *neighbour*!

She began to pace, back and forth, like a caged animal. Every detail, every word, felt like a barbed wire scratching at her skin. The urge to obliterate the book, to erase the very existence of its author, coursed through her.
